In 2012 I was awarded the most prestigious award that a winemaker could receive in Portugal, the title of “Winemaker of the Year”.

She has a degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Master's degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of La Rioja. She began her career as a winemaker in 1999, in Quinta do Côtto, after having worked as a winemaker in Quita do Crasto between 2002 and 2007. Both properties are located in the Douro. She has worked since harvest 2007 as a consultant for different producers in Alentejo.

In addition to the Alentejo wines, Susana Esteban established an association in 2011 with her friend and winemaker, Sandra Tavares, to produce wine in society. The first fruit of this association bears the name “Crochet”, a wine that is made in the Douro.
