Grandfather Fausto White 2020

Quinta das Bágeiras Avô Fausto Branco 2020 is made from Maria Gomes grapes, from a vineyard whose production was quite small and harvested relatively early, so that the high natural acidity would produce a white wine for ageing. It was fermented in used French oak barrels. A light bâtonnage was carried out and it aged in the barrels until it became completely clear, naturally. Bottled without filtration or fining.

The grape variety's more floral profile is noticeable, along with a very light smokiness. In the mouth it is surprising, being full-bodied, fresh and with a long finish.

An impressive wine from Maria Gomes, very different from the overwhelming majority of other wines from this variety, known as Fernão Pires.
