Monte do Desespero Reserve Red 2018
With 31.3 hectares, the farm remains fruitful on schist, hard, clayey soil. Once a dryland crop, the climate here is dry with little rainfall, where the influence of hot winds, in the height of summer, causes small whirlwinds among the vineyards, reminiscent of a hot, almost African environment.
For this wine, the grapes are subjected to total destemming followed by crushing; cold maceration for 36 hours; fermentation for 8 days in small stainless steel vats at 26ºC; followed by malolactic fermentation.
The aging process takes place for 16 months in wood, after bottling it undergoes a 6-month compacting stage.
Monte do Desespero Reserva Tinto 2018 is a garnet-colored wine with a complex and subtle aroma, with wild notes, cocoa and light toast. It presents an elegant mouthfeel, with delicate tannins and a well-structured body.
